NZ just going through the same ordeal the Green Party want to include gender identity, DSD and non binary protections in our human rights act. We have till next week to make public submissions to put a stop to it. However I have a feeling they will ignore the submissions against gender. We must protect sex based rights. As you rightly pointed out most of the human rights sex discrimination act were written to protect women and girls. Not so long ago women had to give up work once pregnant. Couldn’t sign mortgage papers, could only hold down certain types of jobs, no sit down toilets for females on building sites, restrictions for uni courses the list goes on !!! And we bloody well are agin going backwards so a minority can put on a dress and say they are a women this is bullshit !

Thank you for your brilliant analysis of the piece-by-piece dismantling of women’s sex-based rights & protections by Australia’s Human Rights Commission. I am equally incandescent with rage about the now-worldwide trend of the erasure of women’s language, spaces and protections. Here, on Terf Island, we have a war of attrition over self-ID and gender woo. I continue to be astonished at the willingness of so many feminists to embrace gender nonsense, seemingly unconcerned about the threats this poses to themselves and other women & girls. An excellent piece, Edie. Will share.

To be a feminist one must first recognize male and female. To call oneself a feminist and also say a male in a dress is a woman is an oxymoron. These women embracing "gender" are not feminists. Feminists can disagree among themselves about a whole range of issues, just as men can disagree, but the shared belief that defines us is based on the reality of the two sexes and a belief that the female sex should share the same rights, opportunities, and self-determination as males, including support for female sports, private facilities and spaces, including the above app.

Brilliant Edie. We need to engage politically in Australia. It's a big ask of Australians who are inclined to be fairly lackadaisical where politics is concerned, but it's the only way.

Well said Edie. I think what will really change this, is when we have a grieving parent, or irreparably damaged adult, take legal action against a government institution for promoting misinformation and lies. It’s surprising Australia hasn’t yet had a Keira Bell type case. The numbers of kids here on hormones is already much higher than the UK. The research indicates that the initial euphoria post surgery wears thinner and thinner, resulting after approx 7 years in much greater incidence of suicidality as the regret sets in.

Beaten down with our own rights! For screaming out loud! Thank you again Edie, for putting the i i's on the deceptive coercion that is Identity Ideology/MRA colonisation. What a time to be alive! Just... back to square one, 50 years backwards. Let's hope the young ones of today, especially the girls, will find the incredible uplift, innovation, creativity, power and self determination that feminists and lesbians of yesteryear found in creating Sisterhood solidarity. And don't forget, the Women's Liberation Movement invented DIVERSITY! Women standing up for their freedom happened in every layer in society, in every country, every race, globally. The severe backlash is harsh to overcome. Marilyn French mapped thousands of years of backlash of uprisings by women. Her 4 volume series The History of Women of the World, tells it ALL. This is just a progression of a looooong history of wars and repression against children and women. And so much of our precious energies, and money!, are wasted on being forced to play the boys games. We struggle and persevere.

Thanks for a great analysis, Edie.

Best of luck to Sall on appeal when perhaps the SDA itself can be attacked.

I have cross posted in an Australia Special 😊

Excellent article, Edie. Thanks! I agree with you that it is a political solution now given the erosion of women’s rights in the courts. What a travesty that the very legislation designed to protect women (the SDA) is now used to undermine us and crush the very category of woman! I too wrote about this last week at ASF here: https://www.scienceandfreedom.org/articles/what-is-a-woman-tickle-v-giggle/

(Reposted from Substack) and at Fairer Disputations. I’m starting a podcast and would love to interview you. I will send a DM. Cheers!
